FloDee is back

Had some vid problems so I've decided not to make a vid to explain why FloDee got flagged by Defender. But here’s what happened..

“Commands from an attacker”. That’s quite an accusation. I have vids and stuff out there with my face on em, and I all the sudden I’m sending attack software. What does ‘persistent’ mean anyways?  I thought it was a memory leak from not disposing an icon. It never says what how my program is dangerous. But it wasn’t a memory leak, it was the code you see in the pic.

It is commented out (and here, I blocked out the filenames). But it wasn’t commented out in a hastily published version of FloDee (March 20 2021). Why is it there? It shuts down all the processes I don’t need or use running in the background of Windows 10 stealing all my clock cycles and bringing my computer to its knees. It's so bad, I put it in FloDee so as not to interrupt me anytime I was coding it. I comment it out before I publish. But on the version of March 20 2021, I hastily forgot to comment out that bit of code. The March 20 2021 update had a few bug fixes in it, but I had forgotten to tell people to delete the old FloDee folder before running it on the last versions.  Hardly an attack. None the less, my mistake.

That snippet of code was never meant to be running in the published version. It has been removed from FloDee and now I run it as a stand alone. A lot of people use the apps that it shuts down. Why would I want someone not to use the play store? And of course most people depend highly on the virus scanner and wouldn’t think of running a computer without it. Why would I want to take that away from people? I wrote a tool that greatly improves how a desktop works, and decided to attack the world while I was at it?

I don't use the play store. I don't want it running. What is Watson doing running? Why is skype running? I don't use any of that stuff and I don't want any of it running.  I found c________.exe scanning my source code on a totally separate drive from where Windows is. I don’t keep my stuff on my primary drive cause I backup my partition and restore it. I keep it separate from the OS, but here is the OS scanning my source code on a entirely different drive.

Let’s put this in perspective.  MS is scanning my intellectual property while at the same time, dragging my computer to it’s knees so bad that it won’t respond to anything. But they are calling ME an attacker. And if they don’t believe that Windows 10 drags my computer down, then they are also calling me a liar.  My work comes to a standstill when all that stuff is running.  And I am not lying.

And why was it flagged as soon as I made it beta?  As soon as I moved it from alpha to beta, Defender flags the March 20 2021 version and also the one I just released as beta at the same time, even though that snippet was not in the beta or any version after the March 20 2021  version. How does that happen?

Accidentally including that snippet was a mistake on my part and I apologize to everybody including MS.

In the meantime, I took a break from FloDee and studied some visual machine learning. Since FloDee works best the more things you have open, it allowed me to test it better. Testing has been a problem cause you actually have to be doing other things to test it. I re-adjusted some timings and it seems to have worked. It’s definitely the most the most stable version yet.

I also added hotkeys. The wholllle list. The popdown is the entire list of enumerations that MS says are programmable as system hotkeys.  Not all of them work, but at least you have the option to try. Some are device dependent. The mouse references don’t work. And till I get the mouse options working properly, I hard coded FloDee to open on the XButton2 mouse button. On my mouse it is clicked by moving the mousewheel to the right. It’s the same button as ‘forward’ when utilized in a browser. It works great there if you never use that button for anything else.

The click-through panel is still a little glitchy. It’s the toggling of the icons and background color. Getting it to refresh without flicker is the goal.  And for some reason, a couple of menu options quit working (I moved a lot of stuff around). I will have to re-reference some things to fix those and need to clean a few other things up too. And it still has zero help.  So I am back working on it. I have no clue if it works with Windows 11 yet.
